Some scientists believe that quality sleep is closely tied to a regulated core body temperature, and it’s perhaps the same reason we choose to stick just one foot out from under our sheets. A happy half-and-half scenario keeps us snug yet airy so we never cease from dreaming. With this in mind our sweat-tee was born—a hybrid that is part t-shirt, and part sweatshirt.
It features a comfortable collar, broad band at the bottom and raw-edged sleeves, to slip over your head with total ease. Cut straight just like a tee, it looks best when worn baggy with dropped shoulders. The best masquerade to take you from beneath the sheets to a day out and about. It pairs well with almost any pant or trouser if you’re wearing it out. Or otherwise can double as a knapsack if you’re looking for a spontaneous midday snooze.
The fabric is our coziest Womb Waffle and lined on the inside with our soft Cloud Cotton. The concept of a fostering environment is what prompted this—think along the lines of being cocooned in the womb as a fetus. We bio-wash each piece after the dye application, eliminating the chemical effect—sort of like saving the vitamins in a broth of cooked vegetables!
Each piece is specially hand-dyed, receives an enzyme-wash, and then is cut and made by one tailor—just for you. Our clothes are a little bit complicated to care for like a lover. But, if you treat them well they will reward you in many ways.

These creatures manipulate the openings and closings on the surface facade of their mounds, to ensure that they are perfectly cool on the inside when it is hot, and warm on the inside when it is cold. Belgian and Italian linen are richer than Indian linen, while Indian cotton has unique and highly desirable feeling compared to many other cottons across the world. We have been very careful not to cross the 4% limit of elastane / polyester in the blend—ensuring that it will at least still de-compose on its own, while keeping micro-plastics to a minimum. Our Adult Swaddle is double-sided; the first layer is Aeromul (100% cotton), and the second layer is Naked Slub (a blend of polyester and viscose). It is never meant to be discarded. It is easy to mend, dry-clean only and will last you forever if you take care of it. Keep in mind it ages like wine and is to be cherished and passed on like an heirloom.

This inbred lattice technique is made in our soft Cloud Cotton, a 100% cotton knit with the hand-feel of your favorite t-shirt. We cut up t-shirt fabric and created individual rope that we then wove together, by stitching one strip at a time on top of the next. This is an elaborate process—a sculptural take on embroidery.
As one of the most intricate techniques in the Obataimu family, we urge you to treat it with care.
STEAM CLEAN ONLY :
1. It’s best to do this yourself at home with a professional home steamer or pocket steamer if you are traveling.
2. If you do take it to a dry-cleaner, let them clearly know this piece CANNOT BE DRY-CLEANED but only steam-cleaned.

We want to switch gears from the one-click shopping culture to more thoughtful consumption, keeping air pollution from e-commerce in consideration too. While the shipping industry is essential to the world’s economy and well-being, we are aware of its contributing factors on the global greenhouse gas emissions that are released into our atmosphere. Every year, the shipping industry is responsible for approximately 2.89% of CO2 gases emitted globally. This may seem low to you now, but by the year 2050, it is said to increase up to 130% (4th IMO GHG study, 2018). We are trying to work with you to help the global fashion model find a new way.

If you must hand-wash; start by filling the container with cold water. Add just a pinch of non-toxic / acid and phosphate free laundry powder, and dip the piece in for a maximum of 5 minutes. Do not twist and squeeze on removal, instead lay it flat on the rack to dry. Never put the piece in a dryer or leave it out in the sun to dry.
You can steam or flat iron this piece with no difficulty. It’s not super prone to wrinkling but that doesn’t mean it’s wrinkle-free. The best way to travel with Obataimu is with a pocket steamer. Once you invest in one, you will never travel without it.
Do not machine wash this piece.
If you prefer to leave it to the professionals, just give it to the dry-cleaners and it will come back perfectly.

We cut up t-shirt fabric and created individual rope that we then wove together, by stitching one strip at a time on top of the next. This is an elaborate process—a sculptural take on embroidery.
