Inspiration : Within the soothing quarters of a Japanese tea-house, a geisha glides across the room draped in silken kimonos, retelling tales of love and longing. Trained in traditional arts like playing the shamisen (instrument) to tea ceremonies, cultural and exceptional social skills with eloquence, they entertained nobility and samurai alike. As the fragrant tea wafts through the air, a geisha casts her spell upon the gathering, preserving Japanese customs to this day.
About the piece : We designed a contemporary wide pant capturing the elegance of a geisha. The trousers are tailored to fit you mid to high-waisted with fabric covered buttons and a zipper for comfort. It is cut wide with two pleats at the waist, flaring at the bottom with two mock pockets at the back. Being so versatile by design, it can be paired with just about anything in your wardrobe. For a more formal fit, pair this with a silk shirt or top and throw on a trench, blazer, cape. Pair it with oversized sweatshirts to wooly sweaters, pair with contrast-colored vests to printed retro shirts—this silk-trouser is your partner in crime. Accessorize with lipstick colors or a variation of shoes from pumps to sneakers and even wears well with a pair of cowboy boots!
Made in our most lustrous fabric—Liquid Silk—it is originally a heavy sari silk woven with a satin finish. It goes through a special post-dye treatment and will have you experiencing an illusion of floating in a swimming pool.
Each piece is specially hand-dyed, receives an enzyme-wash, and then is cut and made by one tailor—just for you. Our clothes are a little bit complicated to care for like a lover. But, if you treat them well they will reward you in many ways.

Termites build their mounds using an extremely sophisticated understanding of ventilation. Engineers have been in awe of this design system since they discovered it. These creatures manipulate the openings and closings on the surface facade of their mounds, to ensure that they are perfectly cool on the inside when it is hot, and warm on the inside when it is cold. Belgian and Italian linen are richer than Indian linen, while Indian cotton has unique and highly desirable feeling compared to many other cottons across the world. We have been very careful not to cross the 4% limit of elastane / polyester in the blend—ensuring that it will at least still de-compose on its own, while keeping micro-plastics to a minimum. Our Adult Swaddle is double-sided; the first layer is Aeromul (100% cotton), and the second layer is Naked Slub (a blend of polyester and viscose). It is never meant to be discarded. It is easy to mend, dry-clean only and will last you forever if you take care of it. Keep in mind it ages like wine and is to be cherished and passed on like an heirloom.

how to care for this technique
This inbred lattice technique is made in our soft Cloud Cotton, a 100% cotton knit with the hand-feel of your favorite t-shirt. We cut up t-shirt fabric and created individual rope that we then wove together, by stitching one strip at a time on top of the next. This is an elaborate process—a sculptural take on embroidery.
As one of the most intricate techniques in the Obataimu family, we urge you to treat it with care.
STEAM CLEAN ONLY :
1. It’s best to do this yourself at home with a professional home steamer or pocket steamer if you are traveling.
2. If you do take it to a dry-cleaner, let them clearly know this piece CANNOT BE DRY-CLEANED but only steam-cleaned.
3. THIS CANNOT BE HAND-WASHED NOR CAN IT BE MACHINE-WASHED.

If you must hand-wash; start by filling the container with cold water. Add just a pinch of non-toxic / acid and phosphate free laundry powder, and dip the piece in for a maximum of 5 minutes. Do not twist and squeeze on removal, instead lay it flat on the rack to dry. Never put the piece in a dryer or leave it out in the sun to dry.
You can steam or flat iron this piece with no difficulty. It’s not super prone to wrinkling but that doesn’t mean it’s wrinkle-free. The best way to travel with Obataimu is with a pocket steamer. Once you invest in one, you will never travel without it.
