Inspiration : Dating back thousands of years, Yakushima Forest was originally home to the indigenous Jomon people. As time passed, the forest served as a vital resource for timber during the Edo period and then, in the early 20th century, efforts were finally made to protect and preserve the greenlands. Today, walking along these labyrinthine trails can be a sensory experience, with the rustling sound of leaves underfoot, the earthy scent filling the air, sunlit moss-covered grounds and crystal-clear streams cascading along the rocks — all, embracing the transient concept of the changing seasons.
About the piece : The robe is long and cut with ample room. With a wide border along the edges in our Liquid Silk, the rest of the robe is single layered in our Teaser Silk. It is meant to be worn as loose and comfortable as possible. The shorts are cut straight, have a comfortable waistband for ease and can be worn mid to high-waisted depending on your comfort. It also features the mix of fabrics with the wide bordered edge at the bottom. This set has the ability to reveal as much as conceal, based on your preference. It is designed for the ultimate comfort seeker and the lazy dresser. Honestly, you can wear this to a formal dinner party with a pair of heels and some jewelry, or dress it down for an intimate gathering at home, and you can even wear the robe on its own.
The fabric is our Teaser Silk. A light silk georgette that is given a bio-thinning process to strip it down to its most basic self. Translucent in character, it’s fantastic to play with light and shadows like a photographer. It absorbs colors like a blotch, allowing us to deeply explore the nuances of the relationship between colour and aura.
Each piece is specially hand-dyed, receives an enzyme-wash, and then is cut and made by one tailor—just for you. Our clothes are a little bit complicated to care for like a lover. But, if you treat them well they will reward you in many ways.

We have been very careful not to cross the 4% limit of elastane / polyester in the blend—ensuring that it will at least still de-compose on its own, while keeping micro-plastics to a minimum. Our Adult Swaddle is double-sided; the first layer is Aeromul (100% cotton), and the second layer is Naked Slub (a blend of polyester and viscose). It is never meant to be discarded. It is easy to mend, dry-clean only and will last you forever if you take care of it. Keep in mind it ages like wine and is to be cherished and passed on like an heirloom.

how to care for this technique
This inbred lattice technique is made in our soft Cloud Cotton, a 100% cotton knit with the hand-feel of your favorite t-shirt. We cut up t-shirt fabric and created individual rope that we then wove together, by stitching one strip at a time on top of the next. This is an elaborate process—a sculptural take on embroidery.
As one of the most intricate techniques in the Obataimu family, we urge you to treat it with care.
STEAM CLEAN ONLY :
1. It’s best to do this yourself at home with a professional home steamer or pocket steamer if you are traveling.
2. If you do take it to a dry-cleaner, let them clearly know this piece CANNOT BE DRY-CLEANED but only steam-cleaned.

While the shipping industry is essential to the world’s economy and well-being, we are aware of its contributing factors on the global greenhouse gas emissions that are released into our atmosphere. Every year, the shipping industry is responsible for approximately 2.89% of CO2 gases emitted globally. If you must hand-wash; start by filling the container with cold water. Add just a pinch of non-toxic / acid and phosphate free laundry powder, and dip the piece in for a maximum of 5 minutes. Do not twist and squeeze on removal, instead lay it flat on the rack to dry. Never put the piece in a dryer or leave it out in the sun to dry.
You can steam or flat iron this piece with no difficulty. It’s not super prone to wrinkling but that doesn’t mean it’s wrinkle-free. The best way to travel with Obataimu is with a pocket steamer. Once you invest in one, you will never travel without it.
Do not machine wash this piece.
If you prefer to leave it to the professionals, just give it to the dry-cleaners and it will come back perfectly.
